QUT - Gardens Point

OVERVIEW

Designed in 2022, this group conceptual project explored how existing infrastructure and shared spaces across the QUT Gardens Point campus could be adapted to support student wellbeing. The proposal aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on accessible interventions within everyday environments.

The Problem & Response

About

The project responded to increasing levels of student overwhelm, stress and limited access to traditional wellbeing services. Rather than introducing new physical structures, the solution integrated discreet QR codes into calm, communal spaces such as park benches and gardens.

When scanned, these QR codes directed students to curated podcasts and educational videos centred on mindfulness and meditation. The intervention was designed to feel optional, private and non-intrusive, allowing students to engage at their own pace and in their own space.

This approach addressed the shortage of available human counsellors by offering an accessible, supplementary form of support. QR-based delivery removes financial and social barriers, enabling anonymous engagement without stigma. The system is low-cost, environmentally minimal, and highly scalable, creating a foundation for future personalised wellbeing interventions across campus.

QUT - Gardens Point

OVERVIEW

This award-winning project is entirely independent. Challenging a world engineered for frictionless impulse, I designed and built Sketchy, an app that intercepts impulsive actions and encourages more intentional online choices.
